So, I didn't think I was going to do it, but ...
I made my November writing goals! With one day to spare: I wrote the last word of the first draft of my 1920s fantasy-adventure Tuesday night. And then I jotted down the main areas that need work in the next draft.
So, that is one first draft finished, and one final draft finished. I had hoped to get the first draft of my MG fantasy finished as well, but I kind of guessed that wouldn't get done. I'm writing that draft by hand, which takes way longer than typing.
And today we started Advent - our first activity of the month was "listen to Christmas music," which we are ALL enjoying (I should mention that Carl is out of town today - he gets sick of Christmas music much faster than the girls and I). And I snuck in some holiday M&M's, because what's the point in starting Advent without a bit of candy?
I'm also hoping to bake some cookies throughout this next month. What are some of your favorite Christmas cookie recipes? We have the typical sugar cookies for frosting, of course, and Carl likes cappuccino crinkles, and if the smell doesn't gag him I'll probably make peanut butter cookies (Joy has informed me that are her best favorite) ...
But I'm always in the market for good new recipes!
Has your December started well? Are you getting excited for Christmas? And please, leave me a note with your favorite recipe or a link to it!
I congratulated you on Twitter, but congratulations again on meeting your goal. It feels so good to make progress. Peanut butter cookies sound wonderful. I think you should bake a bunch and celebrate! I'm planning to make fudge this week. I use the recipe on the Marshmallow Fluff jar, and it always comes out perfect.
ReplyDeleteThank you again, Kirsten! Ooh, fudge. I'd almost forgotten about that. I have an easy microwave recipe somewhere I should dig out again. I adore fudge around the holidays!
ReplyDeleteHurrah for meeting writing goals! Or any goals really. I want to do NaNoWriMo next year, this year the only idea I started out the month with was one that had such a glut of plotting and research already done, I doubted my ability to ignore my inner fact-checker long enough to get it out.
ReplyDeleteOf course on November 30th I lit up with a totally new idea that would have poured out like water, no fact checking required, so I am clearly just running a month behind the rest of the world, and need to deal with that.
I hope I can return the proofreading favour when you have reached that stage; 1920s fantasy-adventure sounds DELICIOUS. ;)
(speaking of delicious I do have a recipe for gingerbread but can't lay hands on it just now . . . when I do, I'll share!)
Mmm, gingerbread. Haven't made that in ages.
ReplyDeleteLove those ideas that just come and are SO RIGHT!
I will be shamelessly taking you up on your proof-reading offer soon. I'm letting the story rest for a little bit right now, but I'll be tearing into the second draft at some point soon-ish, and it's usually after #2 that I start wanting people to look at it and tell me what I am doing wrong. :-)
I put the recipe up on rthstewart's exchange today. You can see it here, if you want!
